Madison Technology is looking for a Support Engineer to be responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of desktop and server hardware/software, networking infrastructure, and peripheral equipment. Ideal candidate must be able to work autonomously and in a team-role. He or She must be a self-starter, highly-motivated and eager to learn.
Duties to include: - Independently diagnose, repair, and/or recommend resolution to desktop, network, and server hardware and/or software issues. - Support MTI's Managed Hosting Platform (strong background in Symantec Backup Exec Products required) - Perform software and hardware installations, configurations, repair and upgrades. - Maintain IT Infrastructure asset lists and maintenance logs. - Perform scheduled maintenance on servers and peripheral equipment. - Provide support and assistance to users at multiple locations. - Assist in preparation of user manuals and technical documentations. - Assist in special projects as assigned. - Provide system hardware and software support to end-users. - Effectively communicate with non-technical persons, both oral and written. - Assist in enforcement of department policies and procedures. - Maintain confidentiality at all times. - Ability to travel to various sites as needed. - Ability to be part of a standby schedule and work nights / weekends as required.
Required: - Vehicle and Valid Driver License. - Minimum three (3) years technology experience. - Strong communication skills (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with corporate clientele and high net worth individuals. - Ability to work both autonomously and in a team/collaborative setting. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Motivated and independent, strong work ethic. - Strong background in Symantec Backup Exec Products. - Versatile with desktops and servers: Dell, IBM, HP, Lenovo, Apple. - Knowledge of backup to disk technologies. - Strong knowledge of Windows XP/Vista/7 desktop operating systems. - Must know Microsoft Office products. - Must know how to troubleshoot spyware, virus, disk crashes and OS problems. - Be flexible with schedule and able to work under pressure.
Preferred: - Knowledge of MAC OSX a plus. - Knowledge of Blackberry server and devices. - Knowledge of ISCSI architecture. - Active Directory experience, create user accounts, resetting passwords. - Microsoft Exchange knowledge. creating Mailboxes, distribution Groups. - Knowledge of applying permissions on files and folders. - Understanding of TCP/IP. - Knowledge of IP applications and basic troubleshooting. - Knowledge of enterprise firewalls and routers.
